So we were supposed to be in Sri Lanka. But the day we were going to leave someone, not naming names, had a high fever and then was diagnosed with pneumonia and strep throat. It was recommended by the doctor that we not jump on a 16-hour flight to Dubai. My bad Ma and Pa.
We decided to hop on a plane the next week and join my cousins in Jamaica. They had a trip already planned to stay at a resort down there, so we just crashed their trip.
We stayed at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay. This place was great. They had a lazy river! I would just strap on my floaties and float around and around and around. It was so much fun and very relaxing. Ma and Pa would grab some tubes and enjoy the lazy life.
At the resort, they had a couple water slides. There were three slides in a row that I was big enough to ride on. After a couple of trips down with Ma, I was able to tackle the slides on my own. There was also a bigger slide for Evan and Owen to ride. It looked fun, but maybe next time.
On the 3rd day, the rest of the crew showed up. We headed straight for the beach. The rest of the crew, Evan, Owen, Amber, and Jason, are all big-time Ohio State fans. Everywhere they go they have to make a script Ohio. They let me be “H” and I was flanked by the two “O’s.”
After we snapped a few pictures, we saw a float that had opened up about a hundred yards off the beach. We all swam out there to catch some sun and throw the ball around. Ma didn’t feel too well on the float as the waves made her nauseous so she swam back and snapped a couple pics of us.
This was our day, basically every day. Lazy river. Slide. Beach. Lazy river. Slide. Beach. It was so much fun, especially getting to play with Evan and Owen the whole time!
We ate on the property for almost every meal. The first dinner we had together we had to take a bus to a different part of the property. We saw a cannon on the way in and so we knew there was going to be a cannon shot at the end. After dinner all the Nelson’s climbed on for the traditional cannon shot. It was perfect. The next morning Aunt Amber said all she remembered was straddling a cannon. Oh the joys of an all-inclusive resort!!!
The next day we snuck off property to go get some Jerk chicken and pork at local establishment called Scotchies. It was definitely a tourist trap but the food was pretty good. Pa was able to pick up some Jamaican Rum so the trip off the resort was successful.
That night we had dinner at a really nice restaurant on the property. I chowed down on some bread and pasta. Evan and Owen were playing on their iPad and Ma and Pa were talking to Amber and Jason. Next thing I know they were looking at me like something was wrong. I am not sure what happened. I don’t remember. I maybe fell asleep. But what I do know is that my head hurt and my napkin was now folded neatly in front of me. It was all so strange.
Our final day we hopped on boat and went out snorkeling. I got my life jacket on and jumped into the water. Pa held on to me the whole time. I bobbed up and down in the waves. Every minute Pa would poke his head up to make sure I was ok. It was such a cool way to end the vacation. We had so much fun hanging out with the family.
