Pa really enjoys cooking while we travel. He is also cheap! After we land and get situated in our accommodations, Pa’s first trip is to a local market or grocery store. To save a little bit of money, or be cheap like I said, he will buy ingredients to cook breakfast and dinner almost every…

Kaiventures
These stories are my adventures through the world told from a kids perspective. I welcome you to travel along with me on my adventures. The stories told here mostly accurate, somewhat exaggerated, and occasionally made up.
My Family
My Ma is a geographer. Specifically, a human geographer with an emphasis on tourism. She has written a few textbooks on the geography of tourism.
My Pa is in the restaurant business. He loves to cook and is pretty adventurous in the kitchen. He even went to culinary school in Italy.
My Perspective
From the day I was born, I was destined to be a world traveler. I had my passport at four months and my first stamp at seven months. Ma operates under a geographers rule (I really think it’s her own rule, but I ain’t complaining), visit a new country every year. To date, we have been successful!
I hope you enjoy my Kaiventures.
Bonaire – My Adventures
With my Ma being a geographer we are always heading out on some crazy adventures. This time, I was in charge of mapping out the order of our events in Bonaire. But reading a map is tough, and many of the best adventures happen when there is no plan. So we threw the map away…
Bonaire – The Beaches
Our journey to Bonaire started like any other. We landed at night, got our car, and Pa proceeded to get lost. After about 45 minutes of driving in circles, we finally found our house. It was a cozy little place right on the water, Casa Topana. At this point, though, there was no time for…
Houston Fun
It was a big weekend in my own city. One of Pa’s best friends was getting married. Pa was in the wedding, so we decided to pack up the car and hang out in the city for the weekend. It started on Friday with the rehearsal dinner. I ran around with some other people my…
San Antonio – 2016
We took some back roads on our way to San Antonio. These roads took us through Lockhart, the BBQ capital of Texas. We decided to stop at Black’s BBQ. They are famous for their beef ribs, and now I know why. Ahhhhhhmazing. What an experience. It was a great meal in a cool setting. The…
Bluebonnets – 2016
How do I begin this one? This, I think, is a strangely odd Texas tradition. In March and April, Texas wildflowers are in bloom, including the state flower, Bluebonnets. During this time of year, you can drive down many of the highways in southeast and central Texas and see tons of families taking pictures in…
Jackson Hole Wildlife Tour
We woke up early, like real early and I had no idea why. Both Ma and Pa were excited. They said we were going to see animals in the wild. I thought, sounds good to me, I like animals. We headed down and got some breakfast while we waited for our tour guide. We were…
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
So Ma needed a snow fix. Since she had grown up in Ohio, she had started to miss the snow. I had never seen snow, much less temperatures below 50F. So we hopped on an easy flight to Jackson, Wyoming. We left Christmas day, and it was 80F. We landed, 3 hours later, and it…
San Jacinto Monument
It was Thanksgiving week, so that meant MeeMaw and PeePaw were in town. And that meant an adventure around Houston. We decided to see the San Jacinto Monument. The San Jacinto Monument represents a critical moment in the Texas Revolution where Texas gained its independence from Mexico. The monument is the largest stone monument in…
A weekend in Galveston
I had heard my parents speak about this place. A place of vast waters and sandy beaches. I enjoyed my last few visits to the beach and figured this would be fun too. We were going down to Galveston to celebrate a friend’s birthday. They had a camper right off of the beach…..super cool!! When…
